| | Thousands of our neighbors in northeast Minnesota are reeling from torrential rains last month that washed out roads and bridges, displaced residents and flooded businesses and churches. The extent of damage may not be known for several weeks. Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is working with the ELCA Northeastern Minnesota Synod Office and the national office of Lutheran Disaster Response to respond to the flood disaster.
There is great concern for the many family, friends and their neighbors who suffered property damage and are recovering from the flooding especially in communities like Carlton, Moose Lake, McGregor, Aitkin and West Duluth. Local officials and representatives of disaster response organizations are still assessing the extent of damages and the eventual costs of cleanup and recovery. Because there will surely be individuals and households with unmet needs, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking financial donations in partnership with Lutheran Disaster Response.
Please give generously. You can donate online at www.lssmn.org/disaster, send a contribution by mail to Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, ATTN: Disaster Services, SDS 12-2054, PO Box 86 Minneapolis, MN 55486-2054 or place your donation in the offering plate. Please indicate that your gift is for “Duluth Disaster Response.”Thank you for reaching out to our neighbors in northeastern Minnesota.
